A while back I read an article about why some people get food poisoning and others aren't affected - the writer of the article had had a similar experience to you whereas his brother who ate exactly the same meal was fine - just like you the writer was tired and was fighting off a cold. We're probably eating dodgy stuff every day and it's only when our resistance is low it has a disasterous effect - now I know there's a Japanese word for it - taichyo.
