Weather A Storm

Written by: adekun on 29 March, 2007 11:21 pm - Filed under: blog

Around midnight the winds picked up, by half one the thunderstorm was upon us. Thunderous and windy as at was, it was perhaps the rain that was most deafening.
Kento has been waking more often throughout the night - not that I tend to notice. Surprisingly, he didn’t even stir – until his scheduled time. The worst of the storm lasted just half an hour. I was up early to check the Basil and Lemon Balm, planted the previous day. Not too concerned about the latter, being quite hardy. However, my first attempt at growing Basil had a similar initiation and carked it.

You certainly seem to be up against it with the weather there - if it doesn’t get too windy you might consider net cloches or domes to try and create more stable microclimates.

Have a few two litre plastic bottles, but a bit on the small size. I would like to try growing more from seed. Net cloches are popular here. The OH would take some persuasion. Perhaps next spring? I think blige pumps first.

Are tornadoes known to occur in Japan? This time of year when we get a particularly energetic front coming through here in Florida I always keep a window open at night so that I can hear for just-in-case.

The highest occurrences have been in September and November, although there have been recordings of at least one in most months. There was a bad one last year.
I guess we are going to have to get more accustomed to them and severe weather.
